The venue is the former home of Populux, a club that brought in amazing shows from DJs like Anna Lunoe, Dr. Fresch, SNBRN, and many others. This show is going to be can’t miss event, as Malaa and Rezz both bring an undeniable energy to every set they play. 3 Essential Tracks:

Malaa hasn’t been around for very long, but he’s already made a huge impression in the electronic scene and has quite a few releases under his belt under Tchami’s Confession label. “Fade” and “Diamonds” are two of our favorite tracks from Malaa, showcasing his distinct style, while his “Mind” remix highlights his talents working with other artist’s songs.

1 Mix/Live Set

Malaa drops mixes on his Soundcloud regularly, with his Who is Malaa? mix series already at 11, so there’s a lot to choose from. But perhaps our favorite is the 30-minute mix he made for Confession’s new mix series. It showcases all the best that Malaa has to offer, with a few surprises thrown in there. Check it out below.

3 Other Artists to Check Out

While Malaa has a sound that’s all his own, it doesn’t mean that he’s alone in the game. There are plenty of artists that you’ll enjoy if you dig Malaa’s sound. The first and most obvious choice is the incredibly talented Rezz, who is sharing duties behind the decks on their joint tour, and will throw down hard in Detroit on Friday. The other two are labelmates and fellow french house producers, Tchami and Mercer (both of whom are rumored to be the face behind Malaa’s iconic mask).

Rezz – Purple Gusher

Tchami & Malaa – Prophecy

Mercer – Opium

Malaa (and Rezz!) will be at Magic Stick in downtown Detroit on October 21st. Tickets are available here.
