Gary Richards is a busy man. Better known by his production moniker Destructo, Gary has been grinding and thriving in the electronic music industry for years now, but 2017 is looking to be one of his biggest years yet. On the production standpoint, Destructo recently released the incredible Renegade EP, full of the hip-hop infused G House that he’s known for. He’s also in the midst of his Renegade 2.0 Tour in support of the EP, which hits 45 East in Portland this Friday.
On the business side of things, Gary is an even busier man. HARD Events is set for a huge year, with HARD Summer’s massive lineup, HARD Red Rocks’ return to Colorado, and the recent announcement of next year’s back to back Holy Ship! sailings. If you’ve never been to any of these events, you’re missing out, and with HARD Summer taking place in LA, HARD Red Rocks in Colorado, and Holy Ship! departing from Florida, distance is no excuse. Holy Ship! is his crowning achievement, and something everyone should experience once (I’ve been twice), but any of his HARD events are worth attending.
Just in case that wasn’t enough for you, he also has a new boutique label Hits Hard, which released Destructo’s own Renegade EP, and is now releasing a string of singles from up-and-coming producer Wax Motif, including his recent collaboration with Jevon Doe, which you can listen to below.
If you’re even the least bit involved in electronic music, Gary has impacted you in some way, even if you haven’t realized it. Whether you’ve been to a HARD Event, seen Destructo live, or heard Destructo or any of his label releases at a house party or DJ set, he’s made you dance at some point in your life. As one of the most hard-working and influential figures in the electronic world, he’s not likely to stop any time soon. Next time you’re on the dance floor, remember to thank the HARDFather. In Gary We Trust.
