Disclosure’s Settle is one of the best new albums of 2013. Howard and Guy Lawrence, the young brothers behind Disclosure, have taken dance music in the opposite direction that the general mainstream is heading. Drawing influence from many older UK dance sub-genre’s, Disclosure has crafted an album that is refreshing and exciting, but feels vaguely familiar.
Random Access Memories was one of the most anticipated album releases of the year and now that it’s out the big question floating around the internet has been whether or not it has lived up to the hype. The answer from most seems to be, just barely. Although it seems to change from day to day, “Get Lucky” is probably my favorite overall track, but since everybody and their brother has heard it (and many remixes) enough times to last for quite few years, I’ve chosen another song to feature.
I’ll admit, I’m not very familiar with this Koze character, but one spin of his new album Amygdala had me double-taking once I got to track 8. “Marilyn Whirlwind” is minimal in nature, but just because it’s only comprised of a few parts doesn’t mean isn’t able to cause some serious damage.
