Buku Project Local Artist Spotlight: DJ Soul Sister

Buku Project is celebrating its 5th anniversary in a big way this weekend, with Kid Cudi, Crystal Castles, and Pretty Lights anchoring a massive lineup that spans all aspects of the electronic, indie, and hip-hop genres. In its five years of existence, Buku Project has always made sure to make plenty of space for local DJs and artists alongside the national acts. DJ Soul Sister is New Orleans native who is playing Buku for the third time, having played the VIP S.S. Buku in 2013 and 2014, and has been throwing her own parties in New Orleans since before Buku was even an idea. We asked her a few questions about Buku Project, DJing in New Orleans, and my favorite pop artists. Check out the interview below, and be sure to catch DJ Soul Sister's set in the Back Alley at 4:30 on Friday afternoon.
