With only one more week to go, the excitement for North Coast Music Festival continues to grow. Located at Union Park in the heart of Chicago, artists from all over the world will be joining together next weekend to perform September 1st – 3rd.

Many festi-goers will be returning for North Coast’s 8th consecutive year to see a variety of artists, including Deadmau5 & Eric Prydz, Gucci Mane, Manic Focus, Lil’ Dicky, Damien Marley, Ween, and Primus. These are only a few out of the close to 100 artists who will be performing. Unlike many festivals, North Coast is well known for its variety of music. The acts gracing North Coast range everywhere between EDM, hip-hop, funk, alternative metal, rock, and even jazz. Some artists are known world-wide while others are new to the festival scene.

Several artists will be playing throughout the day at each stage, but North Coast is organized so that you and your friends can hop from one stage to the next in a matter of minutes if you’d like. Friday night at the Skyline Stage, Deadmau5 & Eric Prydz will be headlining from 8:45-10pm, while Gucci Mane plays at the Coast Stage from 9:00-10PM. Saturday’s headliners include Damian Marley at the Skyline Stage, and Carnage at the Coast Stage both from 9:00-10PM. The final headliners will perform Sunday night. End your party weekend with Ween from 8:45-10PM at the Skyline Stage, and also swing by the Coast Stage to see Tipper from 9:00-10PM.

During the day be sure to explore the funky beats and jams that will be going on all around. Some of my favorite artists will be playing, such as The Russ Liquid Test on Saturday from 4:00-5pm at the Coast Stage, and soon after Manic Focus will be at the North Stage from 5:45-6:45PM. Both artists combine a mixture of mediums in their music including electronic beats, drums, guitar, and horns for added taste. I have never been disappointed at their shows and many other fans will agree.

Although the stages will be jam-packed, pun intended, don’t forget to make your way to the silent-disco area. Several DJ’s will be mixing tunes to get down with your friends to. Two different DJ’s will be playing separate tunes each hour until 9PM. But the silent disco isn’t only for your ears. Several talented artist from all around will be doing live paintings each day in this area. The art was definitely a great add-on to the event and I assure you will be just as amused watching the creativity unfold before your eyes as I was.

Last year was my first year going and it could not have been better, hence why I am thrilled to be going back. Those who will be joining for their fist time this year are guaranteed an amazing weekend. Although this is not an on-site camping event, there are plenty of places nearby to stay for those who are not from Chicago. Many hotels and even hostels will be available, but I recommend booking immediately to ensure an affordable room. For those who have not explored Chicago yet, you are in for a pleasant treat. The city is packed with parks, restaurants, bars and things to see. So far Chicago is my favorite city to roam. The night life is fantastic, which is perfect for after the festival each night.

If you want to keep the party going instead of calling it a night at 10PM, check out some of the after parties going on. Head to The Bottom Lounge on Friday to get more funk from The Russ Liquid Test and Manic Focus, find Eric Prydz at The Mid, or get down at Prysm Nightclub with Gucci Mane and special guest Vicetone. Saturday you will have a handful to choose from with Spafford at Concord Music Hall, EOTO at The Bottom Lounge, and Carnage at Prysm Nightclub. You can also check out Don Diablo and Saint WKND at The Mid. Sunday Funday after parties include STS9 at Concord Music Hall, Destructo at The Mid, and Elephante at The Sound Bar. But the weekend doesn’t stop there! Make the most out of this Labor Day weekend with Monday’s closing party at The Mid with Porn and Chicken ft. Chicago’s Most Wanted + Trap vs. Juke with special guest!

So pack your bags, buy your tickets, book your rooms, and get ready for an exciting weekend full of entertainment. North Coast Music Festival is one for the books. See you there!
